"Take the blue pill...take the white pill...?"... recall the series?
"Take the blue pill...take the red pill...?"... recall the line?
These are the first words uttered... the film series is taken from The Matrix (1999). The context of the statement is that "Neo" (Keanu Reeves) is living in a planet of controlled belief. Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), the captain of the "movement" in the movie, is leading young Neo through a crazy ride in "reality" vs. perception. Similar to the movie it's my job, as a personal trainer, to direct individuals with a trip in belief.
Even in "real-life" it seems that we, as depicted in this film, only assume that taking a medicine can provide us all the solutions to our desires. My question for you is..."Do you think all your issues can be fixed by capturing a pill?" Do you truly believe that answers are available from drugs or even do you feel that answers are derived from individual responsibility? I guess the real question is..."Do you believe in prevention or "cure"?
In addition to the quirky video comparison... What is your perspective as associated with health, fitness, and better living? Does better living originated from better pharmacology? Sure...I estimate millions of lives are saved from disease, illness, along with genetic failures. Do we accept responsibility for our behavior which contributes straight to health that is poor and fitness? Are most risk factors for illness lifestyle induced? Even when the newest best weight loss pills hydroxycut reduction pill did work - Is it going to work life-long? What are the risks related to many of the latest diet pills? Virtually any pill we take has a "side effect" attached to its use in individuals which are many. It seems folks are ready to pay basically anything to get their hands on the latest diet pill, or weight loss gimmick out there. Worse - prescription drugs are passed out such as candy to hundreds of a huge number of obese folks. As all of us know several of these medications have shown to be very dangerous, even deadly.

I guess many of the concerns as well as frustrations I receive from people relevant to preventative activity, exercise, or fitness, can easily be traced back to one vitally important and essential question: Are we a remedy driven society or a prevention driven society? Does it make sense that the most up carbo-blocker, fat burner or weight loss pill is going to reverse years of poor living? Do you really believe that your personal responsibility is usually absolved by a pill?
Lets' take the general model of "dieting" for example: one program works this way, you're taking a number of pills in the morning - get a nutritional shake in the evening, chug down yet another handful of pills by late evening, and consume a boxed, pre-portioned, specialized dinner during the night. OK. - What goes on when you are going off this diet program? I think all of the spectacular results just go away! Without a doubt, they tell you to take this item, then that product...then hold your breath for 10 seconds while moving up and down...ok...ok, I am getting taken away - I am aware. The point is; if you have to take the specific pills and perform the specific diet you just will not do it for long - that's why it's called a weight loss program. The name itself assures a person that it is a thing that you commence as well as stop! No, friends - better lifestyle is not something you begin & stop, it's something you gain from when you accept responsibility for the proper care of your body and health.
So what's the solution? Effectively, the answer of mine is to ask yourself some vitally important questions.
One; Do you believe that individual responsibility supersedes a cure-all (diet pill)?
