Find out your resting metabolic rate (RMR).
RMR is commonly used rather than basal metabolism (BMR); although they are a small amount different, estimating possibly one is enough for the goal of weight loss.

To get challenging abs, boost metabolism as well as achieve weight loss, make changes to your caloric intake appropriately when you have your RMR.
Your RMR is going to tell you the amount of calories you need to maintain your existing weight at rest. Your day calorie intake to maintain your weight should be:
* RMR x 1.15
* Example: RMR = 2200, for this reason the maintenance intake is 2200 x 1.15 = 2530
